Injury Update: Broughton in frame for QCLASH
Greg Broughton will need to get through training at Metricon Stadium on Wednesday night to be passed fit to return to the senior team against the Brisbane Lions on Saturday night.
The 26-year-old injured his calf in the lead up to the side’s match against Sydney, and was a significant absentee for the GC SUNS in the team’s 41-point loss to the Swans after performing a superb shut-down role on Stephen Milne in the side’s win over St. Kilda.
GC SUNS High Performance Manager - Stephen Schwerdt, updated goldcoastfc.com.au on Broughton’s progress.
“Greg will be a test for this week,” said Schwerdt.
“It’s just a matter of seeing how he goes during the week… we’re not too sure yet but we’ll wait and see.”
If selected into the senior team for QCLASH5, Broughton will likely receive the difficult task of minimising the impact of the Lion’s half-forward threats James Polkinghorne and Josh Green.
Meanwhile, key forward Tom Lynch is likely to continue gaining match fitness through the NEAFL competition after returning from an ankle injury sustained against the Brisbane Lions in the opening round of the NAB Cup.
