In Saturday night’s 120-point loss to Geelong at Simonds Stadium, the SUNS conceded a whopping 43 scoring shots.
Tom Hawkins and Shane Kersten both kicked four goals for the home side as an undermanned Gold Coast back six was put to the sword.
While disappointed with the result, the SUNS have put the result behind them and are looking forward to an opportunity to revive their season against Melbourne at Metricon Stadium this Saturday.
“Obviously disappointed with the result on the weekend as a club,” key defender Henry Schade told SUNS TV on Tuesday.

“We addressed it yesterday in the review, a few efforts that we weren’t happy with so I think we’ve got to get back to bringing solid effort and it’s a great opportunity this week against Melbourne to really bounce back and get back on the horse.
“We’re definitely excited for the opportunity to prove ourselves again.”
The task facing the interim SUNS key pillars in Schade and Sam Day doesn’t get any easier, with Melbourne’s prodigious forward talent Jesse Hogan awaiting them.
Hogan booted seven goals in a Demons losing side last week and is currently seventh in the Coleman Medal race with 16 for the season.
“He’s obviously a great player, smart forward, knows how to use his body, got great hands so we’re going to have to look at edits of him throughout the week as we would normally do with anyone,” Schade said.

“I think it’s going to be a team role and one that we’re looking forward to.”
Jarrod Harbrow celebrates his 100th game in the red and gold this weekend and Schade credited the revered leader for being an exceptional role model throughout his time at Metricon Stadium.
“We love Harbs. He’s a great leader of the club so it’s fantastic for him this weekend,” he said.
“Personally he’s been a great role model. His on-field leadership is great but off-field he really cares about people and he’s obviously a great player himself so I’ve really taken a lot out of training and playing with Harbs and stoked to see him do well this weekend.”
