The Gold Coast SUNS reserves face a crucial clash with local rivals Southport on Saturday afternoon to keep their finals chances alive.
Spots inside the bottom section of the NEAFL’s top six are particularly tight with just two games separating fifth and eighth.
After last weekend’s impressive win against Sydney University in Blacktown, Josh Fraser’s side will be looking to continue their strong form at Fankhauser Reserve.
Fraser will have 14 listed players at his disposal with excitement machine Jack Martin making his return from a hamstring injury. It will be the West Australian’s first appearance since he sustained the injury early against Hawthorn in Launceston back in round nine.
Andrew Boston and Keegan Brooksby return to the reserves after being squeezed out of Rodney Eade’s 22.
The returning pair strengthen an engine room that is already comprised of Josh Glenn, Andrew Raines, Zac Smith, along with Martin who could spend time in there against the Sharks.
Talented academy pair Brad Scheer and Max Spencer will make their long awaited debuts for the club after completing their national carnival duties.
Palm Beach product, Scheer, is a highly rated midfielder who won last year’s Alan McLean medal as the best player in division two of the national U/16 championships. He has played senior football for Palm Beach Currumbin in the QAFL and at 15 was the youngest player in the club’s history.
