Adam Saad is a step closer to turning his AFL dream into a reality, with the Gold Coast rookie earning an elevation to the club’s senior list.
Taken with the No.25 selection in last year’s national rookie draft, Saad’s line-breaking run and clean ball use by foot has been on full display throughout the NAB Challenge series.
He featured in all three of the side’s pre-season matches against Geelong, Greater Western Sydney and Brisbane, and is set to come under serious consideration to play in the club’s season opener against Melbourne at the MCG in a fortnight’s time.
General Manager of Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft said Saad’s rookie elevation was a credit to the 20-year-old’s hard work and professionalism.
“Adam’s elevation to the senior list will come as no surprise to our players or support staff, having impressed everyone with his attitude to training and preparation since his arrival to the club,” Ashcroft said.
“His fearlessness and willingness to take the game on complimented our counter attack off half-back throughout the NAB Challenge games.
“Adam’s continued improvement has added great depth to our backline group, and we look forward to watching him push towards an AFL debut appearance.
As planned, experienced campaigner Greg Broughton has also been elevated to the primary list.
