Gold Coast SUNS utility Alex Sexton has been charged with striking first-year St Kilda player Jack Lonie on the weekend.

The Match Review Panel assessed the third quarter incident as high contact and intentional, but with low impact. Sexton has been offered a one-match sanction with an early guilty plea due to his unblemished record.

Key defender Steven May has also been charged for a clash with Lonie, this time for rough conduct in the final term of the SUNS' 28-point loss on Saturday night.

The MRP adjudicated the incident as careless, low impact and high contact. May can accept a $1000 fine with an early guilty plea.

The Gold Coast SUNS have until 11am Tuesday to accept or contest the MRP’s decision.
