GC SUNS defender Seb Tape is confident his knee will recover fully and is focused on assisting recently recruited defenders Tom Murphy and Greg Broughton settle in to a strengthened and miserly backline.

The 20-year-old, who was last year described by Karmichael Hunt as the most fearless player at the Club, saw his 2012 AFL season finish pre-maturely after a sickening collision with North Melbourne’s Lindsay Thomas resulted in Tape tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and requiring a full knee reconstruction.

GC SUNS Football Operations Manager – Marcus Ashcroft, updated goldcoastfc.com.au about the extent of Tape’s injury.

“Seb’s recovery from knee surgery has been really promising, the club will continue to take a relatively conservative approach with his return,” said Ashcroft.

“He still requires a large amount of physical training before being available for selection.”

But Tape is confident the worst of his injury battles are behind him, and has remained consistently optimistic during the eight-month rehabilitation process.

“It’s definitely been a long process with the knee, but I’ve got to learn a lot about myself during this time and also got to see how much support I have out there – so there have been positives to take away from the situation.”

“If things keep progressing the way they do, GC SUNS fans should see me back a lot sooner than expected.”
