The Gold Coast SUNS Sat2Day showdown against Carlton saw almost 20,000 fans flood through the Gates of Metricon Stadium, with a large contingent of Blue’s fans converging on the Gold Coast for the Round 18 clash.

While the end result was a disappointing one for the home side with Guy McKenna’s playing group falling away during the final term, there were a number of impressive performers as the undermanned Gold Coasters tried desperately to reduce the deficit.

In other matches, Collingwood survived a major scare against the GWS Giants with the Giants power forward Jeremy Cameron  booting seven goals in a career best performance.

Hawthorn thumped Essendon, Port powered home against the Lions while the Fremantle Dockers suffered an upset loss against the Western Bulldogs.

The Swans made easy work of the Tigers in front of 29,738 supporters at the SGC, while J-Pod rose high above the pack to grab a genuine Mark-of-the-Year contender against St. Kilda.
