Saturday’s loss to Fremantle obviously wasn’t the result that Gold Coast were after, but Touk Miller is keen for the team to learn from the game.
He sees next week’s clash against West Coast as a big chance for the SUNS to bounce back and return to winning ways.
“It was all about learning, we’re not going to be super negative going forward, we’re going to look at the tape and see what we can make of it,” Miller told SUNS TV.
“They did play really well and they controlled the game a fair bit which hurt us,
“But we have another chance next week. That’s the beauty of footy so we’re going to take it into next week and learn from our mistakes.”
Miller had 19 disposals and six tackles on the weekend, but he has his sights only on playing his role for the team.
As one of the club’s leaders, he wants to ensure that the effort is always there and when processes are being followed, results will come.
“It’s probably more just playing my role in the team. I think we’re trying to put in a process and it’s a brand of football that’s going to win us games,”
“I just make sure that every time I put my foot over the line, I’m playing my role for the team and giving a hundred percent whatever the coach needs me to do, whatever the team needs me to do that’s what I’m going to do,
“So if we’re going to win games that’s what the whole team needs to do …we just have to play by the process and we’ll get the wins.”
Saturday’s game also marked David Swallow’s 100th game for the SUNS.
He is a figure that is well respected at the club and Miller and his teammates are disappointed they couldn’t get the win for him in a milestone game.
“He’s probably one of my idols on the team, he’s just one of those blokes you look up to,
“He has an enormous amount of respect in the club, people can’t talk highly enough of him - the way he presents himself, the way he plays his football.
“Although we didn’t get the result, I know that we’ve got another week to make up for it.”
