Young midfielder Alex Sexton will make his first AFL appearance for 2014, joining returning ruckman Zac Smith in Guy McKenna's final 22 for the Gold Coast SUNS’ clash with St Kilda on Sunday.

The in-form NEAFL player has had a string of consistent performances in recent weeks, and has been listed as an emergency for multiple rounds this season.

GC SUNS General Manager - Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft, confirmed Sexton's round nine inclusion to goldcoastfc.com.au.

"Alex has had a couple of setbacks along the way but has pushed himself to earn a senior selection," Ashcroft said.

"He will provide great run into the side, is a good user of the footy and we think he can be a long-term senior player."

Timmy Sumner, Matthew Warnock and Tom Murphy have been named as the SUNS’ emergencies for the game.
