Gold Coast SUNS defender Steven May ventured back to his old stomping ground on Friday, visiting students at Darwin’s Moulden Primary School.

May and his teammates are on leave from the club during the bye round, and with most of the players heading home to see family and friends, May made time to complete a clinic at his former school.

“I’ve been fortunate enough this time to be able to spend a few days at home and it was a great opportunity to head back to my old primary school,” May said.

“The kids loved it; we just mucked around and kicked the footy.  I remember when I was at school, we always got a buzz whenever someone came in as a guest.”

May said he will now return to the Gold Coast in time for the team’s training session on Sunday.

“It has been a good break. I flew back to Darwin on Monday and have spent plenty of time with family and friends. I love my fishing and we’ve spent a couple of days doing that as well.

The 41-game defender said he was looking forward to focusing on next Sunday’s encounter against St Kilda.

“We’ve freshened up now, which was important as we have a number of challenging games ahead of us.

“St Kilda have been a lot better than people probably expected this year.  Hawthorn got the better of them last week, but they gave us the same treatment earlier in the season, so we know it’s going to be a tough match.”
