The Gold Coast SUNS will be subjected to some thorough reviews in the coming days after the team’s disappointing loss to premier Hawthorn on Saturday night.
Assistant coach Dean Solomon pulled no punches in admitting the team didn’t play up to expectations against the Hawks, and the players can’t expect some harsh assessments in video review sessions ahead of the clash with Melbourne in round 5.
“You really need to show the players what is expected of them and what can’t be accepted in this footy club,” Solomon said.
“There are certain standards you need to reach and tonight we didn’t reach it.
“We’ll go through now and thoroughly code that game and review it with the players and really show them where the intensity did drop off.”
The GC SUNS head south to tackle the Demons in Melbourne next Sunday. Paul Roos got his maiden victory as Dees coach this weekend with his side pulling off a surprise victory over struggling Carlton – the club’s first since round 14 last season – and Solomon admits Melbourne will be no pushover on their its home turf.
“It’s a big challenge. We’re going down to Melbourne to play a confident Melbourne side.
“We need to turn things around really quickly.
“I’ve no doubt on a very strong review, we’ll be ready to play.”
The SUNS have won their last two clashes with the Demons, including a 60-point victory at the MCG in round 7 last season.
