Just when you thought he had just about done it all, Gary Ablett is preparing to undergo rigorous testing at Gatorade's IMG academy in the United States.
Joined by Collingwood star Scott Pendlebury, the two Gatorade ambassadors will spend a week Florida working out at the company's world-class sports facility, providing key research into athlete hydration.
The results will then be compared against some of the biggest names in world sport, including basketball megastar Kobe Bryant, tennis ace Serena Williams and the Brazilian soccer team.
But it won’t be all work for the two high-profile captains, each securing a spot in the corporate box to next week’s Super Bowl XLVVIII between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos in New Jersey.
Ablett, a passionate follower of the NBA and NFL, told the Gold Coast Bulletin he was surprised when Gatorade informed in and his travelling partner about the sponsored trip.
“We only found out a couple of weeks ago that we are going to go to the Super Bowl,” he said.
“I went to the Super Bowl about five years ago in Tampa Bay to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers play the Arizona Cardinals.
“It was a pretty cool experience but this one is in New Jersey and it’s going to be crazy over there.”
Strategic Management's Liam Pickering, who manages the two All Australian midfielders, expected their elite conditioning to compare favourably with other sports stars.
"It will be interesting to see when they are being compared to guys like (sprint king) Usain Bolt and I think the Brazilian soccer team," Pickering told The Herald Sun.
"I think it will show for sure that they are right at the very top."
