The Gold Coast SUNS have been dealt a significant blow with Charlie Dixon ruled out of Sunday's match against the Demons at the MCG after failing a fitness test on the ankle he injured during last weekends game against Fremantle.

Dixon finished yesterday's field session ahead of his team mates, retreating into the Club rooms for treatment.

After a follow up consultation with the Club’s medical team this morning, Dixon was ruled out of the travelling party with Brandon Matera and exciting rookie Clay Cameron added to the extended 25 man squad.

Dixons dilemma is certainly of benefit to Brown, with the GC SUNS hard man set to add to his 192 career games after being named on the Interchange for Sunday's clash.

The Round 7 encounter will be Brown's first of the 2013 Premiership season after serving a six week suspension for a high front-on bump on Adelaide’s Aiden Riley in the final round of the GC SUNS 2012 campaign.

An excited Brown declaring himself fit, healthy and raring to go after working with the Club’s conditioning team to ensure he was ready for an immediate recall if required.

“I am pumped and really looking forward to the opportunity and getting back out there and playing again,” said Brown who spoke exclusively to goldcoastfc.com.au today.

“I’m confident in my ability and feel I am fit enough to run out the game. I’ll be doing everything I can to justify my recall and will put in as good a performance as I can to ensure we get a good result.”

While Campbell Brown's return will certainly provide the visitors with some much needed experience, another Brown has been plotting the Gold Coasts demise with Melbourne Forward line Coach Leigh Brown confident the Demons can build on their strong first half performance against Carlton last week and run the Gold Coasters into the MCG turf.

“Great opportunity at our home the MCG and two youngish sides, and we will go into battle and it will be a fantastic opportunity for our guys to crack in and hopefully build on that first half that we had last week,” Brown told DEE TV.

“We showed that we can match it with a really good side, especially in that first half against Carlton last week and the expectation is to bring that  again and build on that and go for longer so if we do that we give ourselves a really good chance and we will go hard.”

The Gold Coast SUNS v Melbourne match gets under way at 4:40pm on Sunday on Fox Sports and 7Mate across Queensland with SUNS TV on air from 4:00pm.
