Gold Coast SUNS defender Rory Thompson has been cleared of any internal injuries after undergoing scans in Cairns on Saturday night.
Thompson was stretchered off after a heavy collision in the third quarter of the game against Richmond at Cazalys Stadium.
General Manager – Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft confirmed the results on Sunday.
“Rory was taken to hospital during the last quarter and remained in Cairns last night to receive further medical attention and to undergo scans.
“Fortunately the scans revealed that Rory had suffered no internal damage. However he does have some bruising of the chest which our medical team will monitor that throughout the week, but we remain optimistic that Rory will be available for selection this week.”
