The Gold Coast SUNS have had a clean sweep in the AFL Coaches Associations votes from the Round 3 victory over Adelaide.
18-year-old Matt Rowell continued his hot form with another perfect 10, his second in as many weeks.
Rowell was dominant around the ground with 10 kicks, 10 handballs, 10 tackles and two goals.
It now places last year’s number one draft pick in fourth position overall on the leaderboard with 20 votes, eight votes shy of Port Adelaide’s Travis Boak in first.
Jarrod Witts was voted second best on ground by the coaches, polling eight votes for his 17 disposals, 22 hitouts and eight clearances.
Lachie Weller and Ben King both received three votes for their performances, with Weller finding 21 disposals and King booting three goals.
Hugh Greenwood and Touk Miller rounded out the votes, also receiving three each for their 13 tackles and 10 clearances (Greenwood) and 26 disposals and a goal (Miller).
The AFL Coaches Association’s AFL Champion Player Award is an award voted by the 18 coaching panels on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis after each home and away game, acknowledging outstanding effort to an individual player in a season.
