The Gold Coast SUNS spent the morning at Broadwater Parklands, assisting the City of the Gold Coast in unveiling the new city-wide brand to the rest of Australia on national television this morning.

GC SUNS Trent McKenzie, Brendan Matera, Seb Tape and new recruit Clay Cameron were on hand to help launch the event, before participating in a light-hearted dodge ball match against code-rivals Gold Coast Titans.

The entertaining affair was broadcast live on Channel Nine’s The Today Show, with weather presenter Steven Jacobs copping a barrage of red balls from both sporting Clubs as he ran through the daily weather reports.

The new overarching brand, which features the new slogan “We’re the Gold Coast. Full Stop”, will be adopted by all six local sub-brands, which includes Gold Coast Tourism, Surfers Paradise Alliance and the Gold Coast Arts Centre.

Mayor Tom Tate, who officially unveiled the new campaign live on The Today Show, recently told the Gold Coast Bulletin that it was important for the city to adapt a more contemporary brand.

“The GCCC brand is out-dated, we wanted something newer that will help the Gold Coast move forward,” said Tate.

“The (new) brand is simple, and can be widely adapted for different uses.”

“People will see it on TV whenever they watch a GC SUNS game and think – that’s the essence of the Gold Coast.”
