Charlie Dixon is expected to make his return to the football from an on-going ankle injury this weekend.

The key forward’s presence has been desperately missed in recent weeks in particular in the absence of Tom Lynch.

Lynch initially injured his ankle against Fremantle in Round 6 and returned to the senior side in Round 11 only to re-injure his ankle against North Melbourne.

GC SUNS General Manager – Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft told goldcoastfc.com.au that Dixon’s availability would be a significant boost.

“At this stage Charlie will be available for election this week, he has missed a significant amount of footy but he has progressed to a stage where he is able to play,” Ashcroft said.

Daniel Gorringe, who missed last week’s North Queensland clash against Richmond with a shoulder injury, is also eyeing a return this weekend with Ashcroft confirming the 21-year-old South Australian is fit and ready to go.

“Daniel missed our Round 16 match against the Tigers after injuring his shoulder against Brisbane the week prior, he is also expected to be available for senior selection this week.”

Centre half-back Rory Thompson has also been cleared of any internal injuries after the reliable key defender was stretched off mid-way through the third quarter following a heavy collision Saturday night.

Ashcroft said the Club remained optimistic that Thompson will be available for selection.
