Dixon continues to build
After developing a more physical attitude towards training this summer, key forward Charlie Dixon believes the Gold Coast SUNS are ready to bash and crash against the AFL’s biggest heavyweights this season.
The fierce 22-year-old, alongside veteran hardman Campbell Brown, has been attributed with adding more aggression and physical pressure into the GC SUNS playing group.
The versatile big-man, who is widely touted as the pillar of the GC SUNS future forward line, has attacked the Club’s summer training camp with a contagious level of aggression, impressing Stephen Schwerdt and his high performance team.
After finding his niche in the latter stages of the 2012 AFL season, the intimidating forward come ruckman has been on a collision course over the pre-season to take his game to the next level.
Speaking with Cairns’ Hot FM prior to the GC SUNS Nab Cup game in North Queensland early next month, Dixon says he’s confident the playing group were capable of climbing up the ladder this season.
“This has definitely been our hardest pre-season on record,” said Dixon.
“We’ve done it together, are familiar with the team’s new structures that have been implemented over the summer, and are all looking forward to meeting the Club’s high expectations this year.”
“There’s a really good feeling around the change rooms… the boys very keen to get out there and can’t wait to get a good hit-out through the NAB Cup competition.”
