Gary Ablett has emerged a red-hot certainty to be included in his seventh consecutive All-Australian team, with the Gold Coast SUNS captain today named in the 40-man All Australian squad this afternoon.

The 253-game skipper has been in career-best form this season, averaging 31 disposals and finishing as the Gold Coast’s leading goal-kicker (28) for the second year in a row.

It’s the first of many accolades Ablett is expected to collect during the 2013 awards season with the champion midfielder also firming as favourite for the Brownlow Medal and the AFLPA MVP Award.

Ablett is also in the frame for All-Australian captaincy after leading the Gold Coast SUNS to 8 victories in 2013, two more than their combined 2011 – 2012 win totals.
