The Gold Coast SUNS Academy team bounced off their U15 Academy Carnival in Coffs Harbour with a resounding 55-point victory over the Greater Western Sydney’s division two squad.

Academy young guns Corey Mullins and Brad Scheer set the tone early with their strong attack on the ball.

Ballina product Travers Golding showcased his versatility both in the air and at ground level, providing a fantastic second-quarter highlight with a superb running shot at goal.

Captain and U15 All Australian Jack Bowes led from the front, with his clean hands and ball use creating numerous scoring opportunities up forward.

Key position player Shawn Watson’s big frame created headaches for the opposition around the stoppages, proving hard to match up on as he asserted himself into every available contest.

With warm and testing conditions played throughout the entire match, rotations were regular as the boys look to finish strong in the final quarter.

With nine of the GC SUNS 25 travelling players originating from Far North Queensland, match day coach Simon Foat said he was very happy with the team’s effort and their ability to establish team chemistry despite many playing together for the first time.
