The reigning top 4 finalists might have won the past four matches against the Gold Coast SUNS, but Matthew Primus believes Adelaide will be the underdogs this weekend as both teams battle towards securing a spot in the top eight.

“They’ve played some good footy but not consistently good footy I would have thought,” Primus said this afternoon.

“They’re missing two key guys in Tippet and Walker, and anytime you lose 60 goals out of your forward line you will struggle, so I think that’s a fair indication on where they are at.”

And although the Crows hold a 70 point winning margin over the upstart Gold Coasters, Primus says the club’s unconvincing past against Brenton Sanderon’s chargers would count for nothing when the two teams battled it out at Metricon Stadium this Saturday.

“It’s a make or break game for them, and also us too, with both teams sitting equal on the ladder and needing the win,” he said.

“They have a good record against the SUNS here but I think we’ve developed and matured a lot since we played them last year, and we’re looking to get another win on our home deck for our fans.”

“If we want to keep pushing up the ladder and staying in touch with the top eight than these games are pretty crucial for us.”

With the boys now fixing their sights on a third consecutive victory at Metricon Stadium, Primus said rival clubs were no longer taking a match against Guy McKenna’s young brigade for granted.

“I think teams are now coming up here and realising it’s a really difficult venue and get the four points,” he said.

“Teams are coming up here and understanding were a good AFL team now and they have to play good footy to beat us.

“I think it’s becoming a bit of a fortress and we’re certainly building towards that, and knocking off Adelaide will certainly help us achieve that.”
