Tom Lynch is amongst a host of big names to return to the GC SUNS senior team to play against the GWS Giants at Manuka Oval on Saturday.

Lynch is set to make his first AFL appearance for 2013 after an inspired second-quarter haul in the goal square against the Redland Bombers last weekend elevated the exciting tall-forward to the senior team.

The 199cm key position player will be hungry to impress against the GWS Giants after going down with an ankle injury in the side’s NAB Cup opener against the Brisbane Lions.

Joining Lynch in the senior team include Trent McKenzie and Danny Stanley, who have also returned for the red, gold and blue after impressing for the NEAFL team following theirinjury-interrupted pre-season campaigns.

GC SUNS backmen Joel Wilkinson (ankle) and Matthew Warnock (arm) will be forced to watch on from the sidelines after sustaining injuries in the team’s 38-point loss to Port Adelaide at Metricon Stadium.

Wilkinson will miss the next 3-5 weeks after scans revealed the defender had sustained a minor ankle sprain, while Warnock underwent surgery after fracturing his left radius and is expected to be sidelined for at least eight weeks.

Meanwhile, new recruit Timmy Sumner’s dream of playing AFL footy may not be far way with the youngster given a massive boost of confidence after the former SANFL star was named as an emergency for the match following an impressive return to the NEAFL last week.
