This Sunday, 7MATE will be airing a special encore screening of Arizona – “The making of a team” immediately following the Gold Coast SUNS Round 22 clash against St. Kilda, a half hour documentary covering the Club’s high performance altitude training camp held in Flagstaff Arizona.
From trekking through the Grand Canyon, to navigating though the red rock formations of Sedona on Mountain Bikes and scaling the icy slopes of Mount Humphrey’s, the SUNS TV cameras captured every second of the fourteen day camp, providing viewers with unprecedented behind the scene access into the intensive and challenging program set up by then-recruited High Performance Manager Stephen Schwerdt and the GC SUNS coaching staff.
Nothing is off limits during the thirty-minute special, with the documentary highlighting the dedication and sacrifice required to make it in the AFL.
GC SUNS General Manager of Communications, Production and Content – Jason Sintome, said the encore screening was testament to the quality of the product produced in-house by the Club’s Production and digital team.
“Arizona – We set out to make the Gold Coast SUNS players more accessible than ever before, to show the Clubs members and supporters along with sports fans around the country the level of dedication and sacrifice required to succeed in the highly competitive AFL Premiership. “ “The making of a team” provides viewers an exclusive insight into the inner sanctum of the football club, showing the players at times when they are both mentally and physically spent. You really can see the team coming together as they progress through the gruelling fourteen day camp.” Sintome said.
Viewers at home will be encouraged to join in the digital conversation by using the #SUNSarizona hash tag on Twitter and Facebook which will be promoted through the entirety of the show.
“Our goal was to take viewers on a journey through Flagstaff where they felt part of the team during each exercise and challenge.”
Arizona “The making of a Team” will re-run on 7MATE from 4:00pm on Sunday, with SUNS TV airing at 12:30pm prior to the bounce of the Gold Coast SUNS Round 22 match against St. Kilda at Etihad Stadium.
