SUNS midfielder Matt Rowell has polled a perfect 10 in the AFL Coaches’ Association votes for the third week in a row, launching the teenager into second place on the leaderboard overall.
Rowell is just the second player to have achieved the feat of ten votes in three consecutive games behind Sydney on-baller Josh Kennedy.
His total of 30 votes this season trails Brisbane’s Lachie Neale who sits in first place with 31.
Co-captain Jarrod Witts was judged the second-best player on the ground from the round 4 victory over Fremantle, polling eight votes for his 38 hitouts and 12 disposals.
Vice-captain Touk Miller was next best with five votes for his 20 disposals, six tackles and seven clearances.
Rounding out the votes for the SUNS was Brandon Ellis who received two for his 20 disposals and seven marks.
Fremantle polled through Darcy Tucker (three votes), Michael Walters and Matt Taberner (one vote apiece).
The AFL Coaches Association’s AFL Champion Player Award is an award voted by the 18 coaching panels on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis after each home and away game, acknowledging outstanding effort to an individual player in a season.
