The 19-year-old midfielder kicked a goal and gathered 15 disposals in the SUNS’ thrilling two-point win over Richmond at Cazaly’s Stadium in Cairns last Saturday night.
Josh’s AFL debut was delayed until Round 23 2011 by foot and groin injuries, however despite a frustrating debut season, Caddy hasn’t missed a senior game since his debut, cementing himself in the GC SUNS midfield in 2012, averaging over 18 disposals as match.
In recent weeks the goal kicking midfielder gathered a career-high 27 possessions against the Western Bulldogs in Round Eight and he kicked three goals against Geelong Round 15.
Suns coach Guy McKenna said Josh’s nomination was another positive from the weekend for the club.
Josh well and truly deserves his nomination and it is fantastic that he has been recognised.
After such a difficult year in 2011, Josh has been outstanding this season, he has displayed maturity and leadership that you don’t often see from players in their first or second season of football and has been fulfilling roles on the field well beyond his experience suggests he should be capable of.
Josh was selected with pick seven in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft.
In 2010 he captained Northern Knights in the TAC Cup competition and represented Vic Metro in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. He was then selected in the Under-18 All-Australian team.
