If the weather man is to believed, tomorrows 117th VFL/AFL Grand Final could be the wettest in the codes history, however rain aside, there seems to be little doubt that the two best teams from season 2012 will run out on to the MCG, or that the Hawthorn Football Club will celebrate their 11th Toyota AFL premiership when the final siren sounds.

Campbell Brown who tasted Premiership success with the Hawks in 2008 is confident his former team mates will dominate the decider, sighting X Factor across the park as the major difference between the two sides.

With Lance Franklin, Cyril Rioli, and Shaun Burgoyne they have freakish players right across the park and I think it will be the Hawks year.

Brown who was one of the Gold Coasts best during the second half of the 2012 season also tipped Brad Sewell for Norm Smith medal honours.

Gold Coast SUNS assistant coach Dean Solomon is the only Gold Coaster tipping a Sydney victory in the season decider saying the Swans ability to win the contested footy will see them home.

Solomon who played 209 AFL games with Essendon and Fremantle also nominated Ryan O’Keefe for the Norm Smith Medallist.

Gold Coast Captain Gary Ablett is no stranger to the games biggest day having lifted the Premiership Cup twice with Geelong in 2007 and again in 2009, the same year he won the Brownlow medal.

When asked to nominate a winner Gary’s response, I think Hawthorn will win, they have been the best side all year and I’m tipping Brad Sewell will win the Norm Smith medal, finals are all about winning contested footy and he’s great at it.

It’s been a busy few months for General Manager of Football Operations Marcus Ashcroft as he looks to bolster the Clubs playing and coaching stocks ahead of the teams pre-season campaign which again includes a gruelling high altitude training camp in Flagstaff Arizona.

When asked who he thought would celebrate a Grand Final victory, the triple Premiership winner with the Brisbane Lions in 2001, 2002 and 2003, nominated Hawthorn saying “They have the players on field to kick a big score.” Ashcroft also nominated Sam Mitchell to be presented with the prestigious Norm Smith medal as the best on ground.
