Guy McKenna
Senior Coach
As a player, McKenna was known for his courage, consistency and commitment. His unyielding accuracy by foot and hand as well as his level-headedness under pressure were also hallmarks.
Over the course of 267 games across twelve years with the West Coast Eagles, McKenna earned a reputation as one of the league’s great defenders.
McKenna enjoyed premiership success with the Eagles in 1992 and 1994.
After retiring in 2000, McKenna coached Claremont in the WAFL before joining Collingwood as an assistant to his own former coach at West Coast, Mick Malthouse.
He was inducted into the AFL the Hall of Fame in 2009.
Ken HinkleyAssistant Coach
Hailing from Camperdown in Victoria’s west, Hinkley started his senior football career as forward at Fitzroy. But it was his time as a rebounding defender at Geelong between 1989 and 1995 where he made his mark. He finished third in the Brownlow Count in 1992 and achieved All-Australian selection in 1991 and 1992 and is now considered one the Geelong’s all time greats.
Hinkley turned his hand to coaching in 1995. After a stint at Mortlake in the Hampden Football League, he steered alma mater Camperdown to HFL flags in 1999 and 2000. After a short stint at St Kilda as an assistant coach, he returned to local football and helped Bell Park to a Geelong Football League flag. After that he was before returning to Geelong as an assistant coach. Together with Mark Thompson he helped forge one of the most formidable and successful football teams of recent times.
Shaun HartAssistant Coach
A rugged midfielder known for his fitness, courage and tenacity, Hart played 273 games over 15 seasons with the Brisbane Bears and Brisbane Lions.
After being recruited to the Brisbane Bears in the 1989 draft from Shepparton in Victoria, Hart played his first senior AFL game in the opening round of the 1990 season. He was an integral member of the Bears’ Reserves 1991 premiership side – the first non-Victorian team to win a flag.
Hart won the Norm Smith Medal for best on ground in the Lions’ first ever premiership win in 2001. He also took home premiership medallions in 2002 and 2003.
