Brandon Matera will require surgery to his ankle after scans revealed the exciting goal-sneak would need a screw inserted into his left ankle to repair the damage he sustained after Cat James Kelly fell across his lower leg in a tackle on Saturday night.

Matera was immediately assessed by the Club’s medical staff on Saturday night and has been wearing a moon-boot since the completion of the match.

General Manager of Football Operations - Marcus Ashcroft confirmed the results to goldcoastfc.com.au.

“Unfortunately scans have shown Brandon has suffered extensive damage to his ankle and will require surgery,” Ashcroft told goldcoastfc.com.au.

“Brandon will undergo surgery as soon as he can and following the surgery we will be in a better position to determine the length of time Brandon will be sidelined for.”

In better news, key players Karmichael Hunt and Charlie Dixon are a likely chance to return this weekend.
