Gold Coast SUNS coach Guy Mckenna says he has selected a side to take on Geelong that he hopes can physically match the unbeaten Cats on Saturday night.
Centre half forward Charlie Dixon, half back Maverick Weller, and midfielders Daniel Harris and Dion Prestia have all come in for the first match at Metricon Stadium.
McKenna said there was a simple rule for selection this week.
"I walked into the match committee and said 'boys, it's an over 85 kilo rule this week'.
"(Geelong have) 15 all Australians, 3000 games of experience, big bodies, they're old, over 28 years of age, and we can't manufacture that but what we can do is mitigate the chances of some of our smaller kids getting snapped in half.
"So Prestia and Weller come in because at least they're a good chance. We're not saying they're going to win those contests but they're a good chance to win it, they're at least going to halve the contest I reckon, and that's the reason why they've come in."
McKenna said he picked the side to challenge the competition leaders and admitted it would be a great test for his young group.
Dixon's return from a calf injury ensures the GC SUNS will have three tall forward targets with teenagers Tom Lynch and Sam Day retaining their spots after impressive showings against the Brisbane Lions and Adelaide.
McKenna said he like the idea of the three talls and said either Dixon or Lynch would relieve Zac Smith in the ruck.
"I'm more of a three tall forward man myself," he said. "Collingwood just won a flag on that and it seems to work well for them.
"With the interchange rule and a bit of slower football and kicking to contests, I'm thinking it's a better chance to have a bigger fella down there than a smaller fella."
Saturday night's match will be captain Gary Ablett's first against his former club and the GC SUNS coach expected the Cats to have done some homework on their former teammate.
"What Geelong have shown all year is they target the good opposition players. I don't know how they're going to do that with Gary but I'm sure they will."
Geelong will come to the Gold Coast without Harry Taylor (chest), Brad Ottens (knee) and Corey Enright (soreness).
McKenna denied it was a lack of respect by the Cats not bringing their best team and said he would do exactly the same thing.
"They've come off a very tough month of football," he said.
"It's a marathon, not a sprint. It's not just us, if they were playing Brisbane or another interstate side I'm sure some of their senior players would be rested. We've done that and you do that with some of your senior players."
