Gold Coast Football Club held off a fast finishing North Ballarat Rebels with a seven point victory at Carrara on Saturday.
The win was another close one for GCFC which seems to be making a habit of nail-biting finishes for its local fans. But the win was important for the fourth placed Coast as it took on and beat second place Ballarat and led all day.
Final scores Gold Coast 10.17.77 to North Ballarat 11.4.70. Gold Coast’s Matt Fowler kicked 5 goals with one each from Rory Thompson, Damien Steven, Jack Stanlake and Alik Magin. Mid-fielder Taylor Rolfe and Fowler were best on ground.
Gold Coast again transforms into the Queensland representative side next week when it travels south to Launceston to take on Tasmania in Game 3 of the U18 National Championships on Saturday.
