Now that the club's AFL licence has been granted, the Coast is on the hunt for foundation members.

The LeJeune family - which consists of Mick, Mel and their children Ellie, 14, Kieren, 12, and Dean, 10 - were the quickest of the 1500 to take membership with the Gold Coast Football Club. We have always been an AFL family so we were always going to jump on board, said Mick, who coaches his son Dean in the Under-11 Southport Sharks Aussie Rules team. Our family is a mixed bag in terms of who we support at the moment - we have a Lion, two Richmond and two Collingwood supporters, said Mrs LeJeune. But in 2011 we will all go for the Coast, she added.

GCFC Chief Operating Officer Scott Munn said membership was the life-blood for the AFL club, available through www.goldcoastfc.com.au. Those who sign up this year will get the first opportunity to purchase memberships for 2011 - when the club enters the AFL competition. News article courtesy of the Gold Coast Bulletin.
