TUNE INTO SUNS TV TO HEAR FROM MARCUS ASHCROFT
The Gold Coast SUNS today confirmed that Harley Bennell would not be considered for selection this week after he failed to attend a compulsory training session on Monday.
Gold Coast SUNS General Manager of Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft confirmed that the leadership group had recommended to the match committee that Bennell be made unavailable for senior selection.
“The leadership group met after Harley failed to attend Monday’s compulsory session and put a recommendation to the match committee that he be ruled out of senior selection, the match committee endorsed the leadership group’s decision.” Ashcroft said.
Ashcroft also confirmed that it wasn’t the first time Bennell had missed a required session this season.
“Harley missed our round four match against Melbourne after he failed to attend a compulsory development session.
Ashcroft added that Bennell will continue to play in the Gold Coast SUNS reserves team, until he displays the professionalism required.
“As soon as Harley demonstrates to the leadership group his intent to adhere to the strict guidelines that the playing group set themselves, he will be unavailable for senior selection.
“We will continue to support Harley during this time; it’s our priority to make sure he understands the levels of professionalism required for him to become the player that we know he can be and hope to see him recalled to the senior side sooner rather than later,” Ashcroft said.
