Gold Coast SUNS has signed Cairns-raised forward prospect Lewis Moss to a two-year deal.

Moss, 18, joined the club in 2007 from Port Douglas Crocs as a Queensland zone selection player.

He was a member of the AFL/AIS squad in 2008, represented Queensland in the Under 18 National Championships and played three games with the GC SUNS VFL side earlier this year.

Gold Coast SUNS coach Guy McKenna said Moss had done enough in his time with the club to earn an opportunity.

“It’s important for us that we develop and retain our Queensland-based talent, so we were delighted to be able to offer Lewis a chance,” he said.

“He’s a key position prospect who’s been operating in an extremely tough and competitive environment. He’s shown enough as the year’s progressed to make us take notice. We’re all looking forward to seeing him develop his game further.”

Far North Queensland is well represented on GC SUNS' list with Cairns-born Charlie Dixon – also the club’s vice captain - and Hopevale-raised utility Rex Liddy both contracted to play in 2011.
