Gold Coast SUNS Captain Gary Ablett has confirmed he will play in the GC SUNS inaugural match against Carlton at the Gabba on Saturday April 2nd.
Ablett told goldcoastfc.com.au that he now has a solid few weeks of training under his belt and was hopeful of playing in a club intra club match before the GC SUNS first match (round 1 of the regular season).
“I’ve had three or four weeks of good solid training, i would have liked to have gotten out there this week the fitness guys want to hold me back a few weeks.”
“We play a scratch match the week of round one and I’m hoping to play that game at this stage and then get out there for the first game in round two,” Gary said.
The 2009 Brownlow Medalist and two-time premiership player said that he was looking forward to building a rivalry with this week’s NAB Challenge opponent, Brisbane.
“There is definitely going to be a bit of a rivalry there over a few years and the boys are really excited about getting out there and playing on the weekend. I wish I could be out there with them,”
