It was a case of the Gold Coast SUNS walking the talk at Carrara yesterday when GC SUNS CEO Travis Auld and club Community Manager, Corey Bell proudly presented cheques arising from donations to last year’s White Christmas Fund initiative.
Designed to help struggling Gold Coast families, the White Christmas Fund the brainchild of the Gold Coast SUNS, the Gold Coast Community Fund, the Gold Coast Bulletin, and Movie World.
Bell said monies raised were specifically earmarked for causes the club has singled out.
“Community is one our core values and we are absolutely committed to helping make a positive difference to ours. Youth homelessness, domestic violence and initiatives designed to promote community involvement on the Gold Coast’s Northern Growth Corridor are of specific interest to us. We are proud to be able to be able to help.”
Auld emphasised the club’s commitment during his presentation speech.
“There’s a sign on the wall as you walk into our club that’s says ‘What you do for yourself dies with you, what you do for others last forever’,” he said. “I suppose that’s sums up how we feel about our obligation is to our community.”
Donna Justow, from the Domestic Violence Prevention Centre, Margeret Spinks, representing Northern Growth Corridor region service providers, andAmanda Wright and Jason MacDonald from the Youth Homelessness Network each received $5200 to put towards their respective causes.
