SUNS out to turn off power
GUY McKenna’s coaching counterpart and former assistant Ken Hinkley is expecting a fierce contest from the Gold Coast SUNS.
“Their form’s been really good this year, they’ve improved a significant amount,” said Hinkley to portadelaidefc.com.au.
“They’ve challenged most sides they’ve come up against and we’re in for a tough day out.”
With injuries and suspensions being felt from both camps, changes have also been made to the opposition’s best available 22 – with former skipper Dom Cassisi failing to be passed fit after pulling up with hamstring tightness following the Power’s 25-point loss to Geelong last Saturday.
It’s a costly out for the home side, which had been sweating on the club stalwart’s presence in the midfield after the spiritual leader kept Gary Ablett to 19 touches in the final three terms at Metricon Stadium earlier this year.
While Power’s SANFL Player of the Week Tom Jonas replaces Cassisi in the seniors, the job of tagging the game’s best player will likely be given to Kane Kornes or Travis Boak.
“Gary (Ablett) leads them well and they’re providing plenty of challenges for their opposition.
“We’ll need to be our very best and take it up to them right here at home.”
