Brand new Gold Coast utility Chris Burgess is already convinced by what the SUNS can do for him after just one brief chat withStuart Dew.
Burgess was invited to tour the Gold Coast facilities earlier in the year where he met with both the coach and key football staff.
“I had a ten, fifteen minute conversation with Stuey Dew when I flew up there a month ago,” Burgess told SUNS TV.

“We just talked about the vision that the club’s trying to head in and what they’re trying to do for the years to come.
“It’s definitely something I can see myself fitting into and something I definitely want to be a part of.”
Burgess came to the SUNS from SANFL club West Adelaide where he impressed as a high-flying contested marker and accurate set shot.
Gold Coast’s GM – List & Strategy Craig Cameron believes securing ready-made Burgess as a key-position prospect gives the SUNS a boost heading into next season.
“It’s important for guys to lock down a position but the fact that we could see him playing in either (defence or attack) helped us make that decision,” Cameron told SUNS TV.
“We wanted to bring guys in that we thought would play at the level and (Chris has) got the qualities to do it.
“Eventually at AFL level he needs to find whether he’s better back or forward and that’s ok, we’ll give him time to do that.”

Burgess knows it’s not going to be easy, but is up for the challenge.
“It’s going to be a big step, I was in amateur footy a few years ago and had to step up to the SANFL and stepping up to (the) AFL will be another big step,” he said.
“Obviously I’m looking forward to the hard work and I’ll be definitely putting in the effort.
“I want to try and get through pre-season, work really hard and obviously playing round one would be a dream come true and if not I’ll keep putting in the effort until I can slot into the team.
“I’m extremely grateful to the Gold Coast for giving me the opportunity and can’t wait to go up there and work hard and see what happens.”
