Voting is now open for the Austworld Player of the round after the opening fixture of the season against the West Coast Eagles in Perth on Sunday.

The SUNS fought bravely all afternoon, but the Eagles kicked away late ending as 25-point victors.  

Jack Bowes was impressive  with his use across the backline with 30 disposals including 28 kicks at 100% efficiency.

Sam Collins was a general down back against an Eagles forward line boasting the likes of Josh Kennedy, Jack Darling and Liam Ryan finishing with 18 disposals, 7 intercept possessions and 10 marks.

Down forward Ben King presented all afternoon and ended up with three goals and one behind from his four shots in what was an entertaining duel with West Coast Defender Tom Barrass.

Vice-Captain Touk Miller was his tenacious self in the midfield with 20 disposals, four clearances and one goal, one behind.

As he always does, David Swallow led courageously from the front with 29 disposals, one goal and three tackles for his afternoon.

Fellow Captain Jarrod Witts was impressive in his tussle with ruckman Nic Naitanui, finishing with 31 hit outs to 22 and finished second on the tackle count for the game with four.

Oleg Markov was impressive on his club debut with 20 disposals, 14 marks and 75% disposal efficiency.

Third Year SUN Jack Lukosius was also amongst the clubs best and will take plenty out of the experience of playing on highly decorated Eagles wingman Andrew Gaff and had 23 disposals and 11 marks in his performance.
