Gold Coast SUNS key forward Charlie Dixon has been nominated for the 2015 Goal of the Year following his moment of magic against North Melbourne at Metricon Stadium on Saturday evening.
On a night where he produced arguably the finest performance of his career to record a club record seven goals, Dixon was involved a piece of deft footwork that is far more common in the English Premier League than in the AFL.
Alex Sexton snapped the ball to the top of the goal square where Dixon was in the midst of a wrestle with North Melbourne’s Scott Thompson. The ball bounced just before the contest, with Dixon turning Thompson away from goal before prodding the outside of his foot to the ball where it spun through the sticks.
