Henry Schade and Josh Glenn will become the fifth and sixth Gold Coast SUNS players to debut in a QClash tomorrow.
The 21-year-old pair will be the first SUNS players to debut in a QClash at home as they fall in behind Tom Lynch, Sam Day and Joey Daye, who debuted in QClash 1 at the Gabba in 2011, and Louis Herbert, who had his first taste of AFL football in QClash 8 at the Gabba last year.
The sixth and seventh players to debut for the SUNS this year, they will slot in at 73 and 74 on the club’s all-time playing list as QClash coaching debutant Rodney Eade looks to improve on the Gold Coast’s aggregate 2-6 win/loss record against their Lions and a 1-2 QClash split at Metricon.
Schade, from North Hobart, and Glenn, from Central Districts in the SANFL, will debut as Jarrod Harbrow and Matt Shaw line-up for their ninth QClash.
With David Swallow sidelined this week by injury, Harbrow and Shaw will be the only SUNS players to have played in every match between the two Queensland AFL clubs.
No less five SUNS players will have their first taste of the special Queensland brand of AFL rivalry tomorrow, with first-year players Jarrod Garlett, Touk Miller and Adam Saad also set for their QClash debut.
A further six Brisbane players will made their QClash debut – Dayne Beams, Allen Christensen and Mitch Robinson, Tom Cutler, Harris Andrews and Nick Robertson.
The 11 QClash first-timers will join an ever-growing rivalry between the clubs.
