One of the Gold Coast SUNS biggest fans from afar, has had his second opportunity to meet his Gold Coast SUNS heroes for 2021, but this time it was at Metricon Stadium.
Hailing from Yeppoon in Central Queensland, seven-year old Finn Carton has endured many hours driving in the car to watch his beloved Gold Coast SUNS play live at Metricon.
As part of the AAMI Community Camp Finn and his classmates were surprised with a virtual visit from SUNS captain Jarrod Witts at the school assembly in March.

But last weekend, as he and his family made the nine-hour drive to attend the Round 6 match against Sydney, Finn didn’t realise he was in store for another life-changing experience.
After running out onto Metricon Stadium at half-time and playing as part of the NAB Auskick grid games, there were a couple of superstar onlookers ready to provide some tips and tricks to help him improve.
Veteran Jarrod Harbrow and ruckman Zac Smith watched on as Finn did what he aspires to do in eleven years’ time, tear it up on Metricon Stadium.
After watching the SUNS’ dominant first-half display from the stands with his family, Finn was invited by Smith and Harbrow to watch the second half with the SUNS non-playing players.
Sitting next to the likes of 12-year SUNS veteran Rory Thompson and first-year player Alex Davies, who he could one day pull on the red and gold guernsey alongside, was something only dreams are made of.
Finn is a passionate supporter of AFL in Central Queensland, growing the game and the Gold Coast SUNS in the heart of rugby league territory.
He’ll be using what he’s learnt to bring others along the journey through Auskick, into the SUNS Academy and hopefully onto draft night in 2032.
