The Gold Coast SUNS have appointed Destination Gold Coast Chief Executive Annaliese Battista to the Board of Directors.
Battista commenced her role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Destination Gold Coast in August 2018 relocating to the Coast from Perth.
Battista has nearly two decades’ experience in strategic destination marketing, communications, economic development and executive leadership across a range of government and corporate organisations and is proud and passionate about her new home on the Gold Coast.
Battista holds tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, and international relations, and champions many community building initiatives through active involvement in boards and volunteer work.
GC SUNS Chairman Tony Cochrane said Battista was a welcome addition to the SUNS Board.
“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Annaliese to the Board of the Gold Coast SUNS,” Cochrane said.
“Annaliese’s appointment further strengthens our Board which has incredibly strong links locally on the Coast, while our national and international links have grown significantly in recent times with new roles for some of our long-standing directors.”
Battista said she was thrilled to join the Board of Directors.
“I am thrilled to have been appointed to the SUNS Board and to be part of such a strong, positive team culture,” Battista said.
“The Suns are a young team with outstanding growth potential. This mirrors the excellent potential to grow AFL and major event visitation to the Coast through on-field success and strong backing from the Coast community.
“I am especially proud to be part of the SUNS good work with women’s AFL, indigenous engagement and community engagement.”
Battista replaces Brooke Hanson who stepped off the Board in 2018.
