The Gold Coast SUNS on Monday presented its three homeless youth charities with a cheque for $11,899.50 split equally between them.
The money raised was a culmination of the GC SUNS Community Sleepout profits and a $2,500 Horizons Funding grant provided to the club through the partnership with the Gold Coast Community Fund.
The total of $3966.50 was distributed to the three charities YHES House, Gold Coast Youth Service and The Project for Homeless Youth Gold Coast.
Representatives from each charity were in attendance for a tour of Metricon Stadium and the facilities before the Horizons Funding cheque presentation held in the Chairman’s Club.
“Our Horizons program allows us to engage and support vulnerable youth and those impacted by homelessness throughout the year,” SUNS Community Manager Michael Gugliotta said.
“It was great to bring representatives from these charities in to give them an insight into our football club but then obviously summarise a successful year of support and provide them with some necessary funds.”
The presentation caps off a strong year of community engagement for the SUNS, with the club reaching a record 5,863 hours spent in the community in 2018.
This significant milestone was achieved through the authentic engagement of youth homelessness, the commitment to the prevention and awareness of domestic violence, Indigenous programs, Multicultural programs, school engagement, the Junior Club engagement program and much more.
