The results paid huge dividends last summer, and Aaron Hall is confident sleeping inside the club’s altitude chamber will once again give him a leading edge heading into the 2014 Season.
A groin injury has meant Hall has spent the entire pre-season on a modified training program, limited to strength work and conditioning.
So to accelerate his recovery, the Gold Coaster has mirrored his breakthrough “train low, sleep high” training program from last season, joining Steven May, sleeping in the club’s altitude chamber.
In 2013,m Hall was hampered by groin soreness and a fractured rib, so alongside fellow teammates Seb Tape and Trent McKenzie, the explosive small forward set up camp inside the chamber for 16 days.
The benefits were clear, and the Hall reaped the rewards.
Playing each of the three NAB Cup matches, Hall was just one of two players to feature in all of the GC SUNS 22 senior matches – and he has strong hopes to achieve the same this season.
“It really helped me last year, and hopefully I can get the same sort of results this year.
“I’ve been in there with Steven and it’s been great, so hopefully we can reap some of the same benefits,” Hall told goldcoastfc.com.au.
Described by GC SUNS offensive coach Mark Riley as “the shining light of the SUNS forward line”, Hall stamped his mark as regular source of goals in attack last season.
Although expected to ease back into full training, Hall still expects to make a strong push through the NAB Challenge matches and win round one selection against Richmond.
“I have been in rehab for the full pre-season but the fitness staff here have put together a good program.
“Hopefully this week I will return to the main training group, and further progress my skills and be ready for round one.”
