If you want to be a part of the Gold Coast SUNS’ round one side in 2017, this Saturday night’s clash against Port Adelaide is the perfect time to put your hand up according to vice-captain Steven May.

Gold Coast have been missing a large contingent of the first-choice midfield in recent weeks, with second-year player Touk Miller emerging as a bona fide midfielder during that time a major positive for the club.

Given the SUNS should have majority of their list available for the 2017 season opener, May believes a number of his teammates have the opportunity to push their individual cases against the Power.

“We’re going to have a lot of mids available next year, and all over the ground, so I think if you want to show Rocket [Rodney Eade] and the coaching staff that you want to be a part of this team going forward, next week’s pretty much the perfect dress rehearsal,” May told BLK RAW after Saturday’s loss to Collingwood.

“Because then we have a massive pre-season and we’re into what we feel is going to be a really successful season.

“I’m sure a lot of boys will be putting their hands up and want to have that spot in round one next year.”
