Inform Gold Coast SUN, Danny Stanley has been charged with a Level Two engaging in rough conduct offence against Jack Riewoldt during the second quarter of the Round 16 match between the Gold Coast SUNS and Richmond at Cazalys Stadium on Saturday.
The AFL Match Review Panel have determined that Stanley can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.
Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Richmond Football Club, the incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Two offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 168.75 points and a one-match sanction.
The GC SUNS have until 11:00am on Tuesday to accept or challenge the sanction.
The Match Review Panel also assesses an incident involving Karmichael Hunt, but deemed that no further action was required.
The Match Review Panel said that that contact between the Hunt and Richmond’s Bachar Houli from the third quarter of Saturday’s match was only minimal and there was no significant high contact to Houli.
Meanwhile, up the M1, the Lions look set to lose both Daniel Rich and Daniel Merrett for the first ever QClash at Metricon Stadium.
Rich has been charged with a Level Three engaging in rough conduct offence and can accept a two-match sanction. While Merrett has been charged with a Level Two charging offence and can accept a one-match sanction.
