Gold Coast SUNS see a White Christmas on the Gold Coast
The Gold Coast SUNS last night helped spread some early and much needed Christmas cheer to some of the Gold Coast's neediest citizens.
The annual White Christmas community event saw over 3500 Gold Coasters from the GC SUNS 10 nominated charities enjoy a fun filled night at Movie World which has been transformed into a winter wonderland for the Christmas period.
The GC SUNS working with the Clubs nominated charity fund, The Gold Coast Community Fund, and in partnership with Movie World theme park, The Gold Coast Bulletin, 92.5 Gold FM and Nine Gold Coast News and NBN provided a night of entertainment which included free rides, dinner, free ice cream, drinks and a spectacular Christmas street parade which featuring all 2013 listed GC SUNS players who led a procession of Movie World’s favourite characters, dancers and Christmas favourites including the Jolly red man himself Santa.
Earlier in the evening fan favourite Karmichael Hunt was given the honour of officially launching festivities, the GC SUNS star pulling on a lever which ignited over one million fairy lights throughout the theme park, completing the Christmas transformation.
Gold Coast SUNS Community Manager Corey Bell saying the night is by far the biggest community event the GC SUNS participate in each year.
“To see all 10 of our nominated charities we work closely with all year represented by thousands of people enjoying themselves with the players, is very special to see,” Bell Said.
The Gold Coast SUNS have partnered with the annual White Christmas Charity event for the past three years with the evening providing the perfect platform to recognise the work being carried out by the Club’s players, coaches and administration during the year.
The Gold Coast SUNS work throughout the year with its 10 nominated Gold Coast based charities that are from the areas of Youth Homelessness, Domestic Violence and the North Gold Coast region.
The White Christmas Charity Fund which raises funds at Christmas time for the Gold Coast SUNS charities and the Gold Coast Community Fund also raised over $35,000 in the lead up to the event that will all be distributed to the charities after Christmas.
