Gold Coast SUNS finished Saturday's loss to Fremantle undermanned and void of run, but midfielder Jared Brennan expects no side effects when they host the Sydney Swans on Saturday night.
At the final siren, the GC SUNS bench reflected a casualty ward following injuries to Sam Day (knee), Sam Iles (foot) and Josh Fraser (foot) while Nathan Bock battled illness during the match.
The lack of rotations hurt Gold Coast SUNS as it was steamrolled in the final quarter and bodies lay strewn over the dressing room floor with fatigue after the match.
However, Brennan said the GC SUNS carefully structured rotation policy should leave them in good shape to take on the Swans.
"It was a taxing game, we had no-one on the bench left so there's a couple of sore bodies," Brennan said.
"I'm used to playing big minutes so it doesn't bother me too much, but we'll see how the younger guys go this week.
"A lot of them have been rested during the year and their workloads have been monitored very closely by the conditioning staff and coaches so I don't think it should affect us too much."
Gold Coast SUNS job was made harder following the unforced substitution of Daniel Gorringe in the second quarter before injuries hit, and Brennan said he was still undecided on the merits of the substitution rule.
"I'm not too convinced either way. I'll wait and see at the end of the year and have a look at the stats and figures," he said.
"It hasn't affected me too much because I haven't been a sub."
Brennan said he was feeling great and had regrouped over the past month.
"I've rested up in the forward line the last month which is good. I started to feel a bit of a pinch, but it was interesting to go up into the forward line with the first year players and help them with where to lead," he said.
"It rejuvenated the body a bit but I was also able to help out the younger guys."
Meanwhile, the injuries to Day and Fraser could be nullified by ready-made replacements Tom Lynch and Charlie Dixon.
Lynch was rested from the trip west while Dixon bagged 11 goals in the reserves.
