BRANDON Matera, Tom Lynch and Henry Schade helped a heap of young footy stars kick-start their weekend last Friday, managing to find time away from their busy rehabilitation programs to take part in the AFL Gold Coast Juniors School Holiday Super Clinic.
Clear skies over Carrara’s JAFC, allowed nearly 150 kids to enjoy a series of different skill tests designed to improve their ability to run, kick and handball.
Fourteen experienced AFLQ coaching staff were also on hand to assist with the program, with GC SUNS Community Programs Officer Ryan Davey telling goldcoastfc.com.au the Super Clinic had been a major hit by all parties involved on the afternoon.
“The AFL Gold Coast Juniors Super Clinic is a fantastic event that the Gold Coast SUNS have supported for a number of years now,” Davey said.
This action-packed holiday clinic provides a fantastic opportunity for children of the Gold Coast to spend two full days practising their skills, meeting new friends and enjoying the excitement that comes with AFL.”
AFL Gold Coast Juniors Administration Manager – Jenny Webber, thanked the Gold Coast SUNS for their continued involved with the city’s development program.
“The Gold Coast SUNS have been great supporters of the AFL Gold Coast Juniors Super Clinic in recent years and this year was no different,” she said.
Speaking with parents and guardians after the Super Clinic, Webber said the overwhelming highlight from the event had been the added-presence of the GC senior players.
“One of the real highlights of the Super Clinic was the arrival of Gold Coast SUNS players, Tom Lynch, Brandon Matera and Henry Schade,” said Webber.
“This year we saw 150 children register for the clinic and as always everyone had a fantastic time.”
