The cornflower blue Big Freeze beanie is now synonymous with both Neale Daniher’s remarkable determination and witnessing well-known football and television personalities toboggan down a giant slide inside the MCG into an oversized tub of pure ice.
Heading into its second year, Big Freeze 2 will take place this Queen’s Birthday long weekend before the Melbourne v Collingwood match.
The blue beanie itself has quickly become iconic and has made appearances across various television networks and social media channels throughout the week.
While addressing the media on Friday, Gold Coast senior coach Rodney Eade was proudly donning his blue beanie and said raising awareness and funds for Cure MND Foundation was a worthy cause.
“I think everyone’s seen what Neale’s done and how he’s gone about it, obviously tackling his problem with a great deal of humility but also a great deal of courage, enthusiasm and a real positive outlook on life,” Eade said.
“I think everyone’s gravitated to that and it’s a great cause, so what that’s doing raising money that’s obviously a great thing.”
